Violina Anguelov
Since her South African début as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro in 1999for Cape Town Opera, Ms. Anguelov has sung over 30 roles, including: Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust, Ruggiero in Alcina, Idamante in Idomeneo, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Amneris in Aïda, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier and Queen Elizabeth in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda.
For many, Ms Anguelov is the quintessential Carmen. She sang the title role for the first time in 2011 and again in the 2016 revival. The Cape Argus wrote of her 2011 performance, “Dramatically, musically, and emotionally: this is a Carmen any man would die for.”
