Thomas obtained his B-Tech Degree in finances from Tshwane University of Technology. He started singing from school and went on to be part of both church and community choirs. An interest to opera developed at tertiary education level where he was also part of the choir. He sang in the Unisa Classical Festival 2004 here he obtained a silver certificate, was a semi-finalist in the 5th Ningbo China International vocal competition in 2011 and received the American Connection Award in the Amazwi Omzansi Opera Singing competition in 2016. Thomas performed as a Bass/Baritone in the Sowetan & SABC massed choir festival in 2006 and 2007 and sang at Prof. Mzilikazi Khumalo’s 90th birthday concert with mass choir in 2012. He went on to perform Handel’s Messiah conducted by Lr l. Magangane in 2009. He was a chorus member at Opera Africa’s production of Aida in 2008, Carmen in 2010 and Le nozze di Figaro in 2011, he also sang the guard in a Zulu opera Ziyankomo and the Forbidden Fruit.
In 2017 he joined CTO as a Studio Member and gained acclaim for his role as Sparafucile in Cape Town Opera’s production of Rigoletto.
