London based Australian tenor Samuel Sakker is currently a company principal artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
2016 seasons’ highlights include Alfredo La traviata (Royal Opera House; New Zealand
Opera; Melbourne Opera); Heinrich der Schreiber Tannhäuser, Eißlinger Die Meistersinger von
Nürnberg, 1st Armed Man Die Zauberflöte, Malcolm Macbeth, Sandy/Officer 1 the Lighthouse
(Royal Opera House); Baroncelli Rienzi (Melbourne Opera).
Further to his commitments at the Royal Opera House, Sakker’s engagements in the 2017 season
include Cavaradossi Tosca (English Touring Opera); James Nolan in the inaugural recording of Dr Atomic (BBC Symphony Orchestra) which will also be performed in concert under the baton of John Adams; as a soloist in Hyde Park (Last Night of the BBC Proms); Beethoven 9th Symphony (Barbican Hall/Royal Philharmonic Orchestra); and record the title role of Liszt’s unfinished opera Sardanapalo.
Sakker’s 17/18 season engagements include Erik Der Fliegende Holländer (Nederlandse Reisopera); Laertes in the Australian premier of Brett Dean’s Hamlet
(Adelaide Festival); tenor soloist in Song of the Earth (Royal Ballet and English National Ballet);
and tenor soloist for opera gala concerts at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, and the Bridgwater
