Marvin Kernelle

Marvin joined Cape Town Opera’s Choral training Programme in 2004. He went on to study opera at UCT (2005 – 2008) and became a permanent chorus member in 2009. In 2012 he became the Assistant to Cape Town Opera’s Chorus Master, Albert Horne.

Kernelle was appointed Cape Town Opera’s Chorus Master in 2014.

This year, Kernelle makes his international debut as a jury member for the European Choir Games, held in Riga, Latvia (July 16- 23).

Kernelle conducts the final performance of Grace Notes in St. John’s church, Wynberg on July 27th.

Kernelle is excited by the challenge of being Chorus Master for his most complex opera to date – Der Fliegende Holländer-   in the Naspers Grand Opera Series which takes place at the Artscape Opera House in August.
