Cape Town Opera (CTO) partners with a large number of schools, choirs and community organisations across the country as part of our Educational and Community Outreach programme.
These initiatives form part of our continued efforts to develop new opera-going audiences, instilling a love and appreciation of opera and classical music to as many South Africans as possible.
Siyaphuma: Taxi Night at the Opera

Opera Tapas: Choral Partnerships
DATES: August & December 2010 at a venue near you.
A combination of arias and ensembles from well-known operas to create a tasty, delectable musical feast, featuring Cape Town Opera’s Voice of the Nation Chorus, the Thembalethu Choir (Khayelitsha) and Bless Them All Gospel Group (Nyanga). Opera Tapas is an invitation to sample a variety of Cape Town’s opera voices and is written and directed by Monde Masimini. Who wins the heart of the Rich soprano – is it the charming baritone or the poor tenor? All will be revealed in this light opera performance.

2010 Opera Winter Tour in the Overberg Communities

Due to popular demand to bring opera to outlying areas, Cape Town Opera’s annual concert tour kicks-off in August. Performing to mostly sold-out concerts in rural Western Cape community halls, our young Opera Studio singers perform opera and musical favorites.
