ENGAGEMENT DATES: immediate (January 2019) through 31 December 2019
MONTHLY STIPEND: R8500 gross plus R500 travel allowance

1. DEPARTMENT | ARTISTIC PRODUCTION

Main purpose
This position is for the key duties of general administrative and logistical support for the Cape Town Opera Producer. The position requires a high level of professional conduct, the ability to manage detailed schedules and personal information, discretion and accuracy in communications and managing information.
Reports to CTO Producer
Key responsibilities
Assist with logistics in travel (air/ground), accommodation, per diem, scheduling for local and international productions, auditions, concerts and special events
Assist with passport, visa applications and related HR documentation
Liaise with ad hoc artists and CTO partners for touring and service providers
Site visits to rehearsal/performance venues, accommodation, etc.
Provide administrative support for the CTO Producer
Work as required in evenings/weekends for CTO activities
Skills required
Demonstrated, excellent spoken and written communication in English.
High level of accuracy with language, numbers and scheduling
Professional demeanour and interaction with others
Basic office software proficiency
Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive

2. DEPARTMENT | GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

Main purpose
This position is for the key duties of receptionist, general administrative support and assistant to the Managing Director of Cape Town Opera. The position requires a high level of professional conduct, the ability to manage schedules, discretion and accuracy in communications and managing information.
Reports to CTO Managing Director
Key responsibilities
Serve as front desk receptionist for office
Oversight of Managing Director schedule and support of Managing Director activities including travel support and logistics
Occasional administrative support of other CTO managers’ work portfolios
Secretarial work for the Cape Town Opera Company, its Board of Directors and its related trusts (CIPC, SARS, Masters, etc)
General office requirements (post, phone, office supply oversight, copier, filing)
Filing (electronic and manual)
Other duties and roles as mutually agreed on
Attendance and administrative support for CTO activities outside of normal working hours, as required (ie concerts, operas, etc).

3. DEPARTMENT | GRAPHIC DESIGN & COMMUNICATION

Main purpose
As a graphic design and communications intern you are responsible for creating and preparing CTO graphic designs, and executing company messages on various social media platforms, monthly newsletters, website, etc. You need to have experience with various online platforms as well as design and programmes, and to be creative and flexible in problem-solving.
Reports to CTO Marketing Manager
Key responsibilities
Create and prepare all CTO design elements for marketing materials, such as programmes, posters, flyers, emailers, annual report, web images and social media platform graphics
Implement designs within CTO’s corporate image style guide
Distribute and manage all CTO social media platforms, such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, MailChimp, etc.
Skills required
Basic knowledge of the following design tools and software programmes: video editing programmes (eg. Final Cut, Premiere Pro), photo editing programmes (eg. Photoshop, Lightroom), publication tools (eg. InDesign, Publisher); WordPress (adding/editing CTO website, using analytics to improve the site); Mailchimp (constructing and sending email campaigns)
Basic knowledge of social media. Knowing how, what and when to post on which platform. Also be able to analyse and monitor posts
Excellent spoken and written communication in English
