The Voice of the Nation Vocal Ensemble
The Voice of the Nation Vocal Ensemble is Cape Town Opera’s resident choral group, whose members perform in operatic and musical productions throughout the year as well as community concerts and educational outreach programs. 85% of the 2009 Ensemble are black or coloured, drawn primarily from the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng provinces. Membership in the Vocal Ensemble is based on annual auditions, and the singers receive a monthly salary, individual coaching lessons, acting lessons, physical fitness classes, and evening transportation home after rehearsals and performances as part of their employment contracts.
