Cape Town Opera, a section 21 non-profit organisation, is committed to the continued performance and development of opera, operetta and musical theatre in South Africa, striving for the optimal employment, training and development of artists from all our communities. The company aspires to be a source of national pride, enriching the lives of all South Africans and sharing with international visitors the cultural life of South Africa. Prior to its formation, Cape Town Opera adopted a policy of transforming the opera and performing arts sector in South Africa and empowering previously disadvantaged artists. This policy is fundamental to Cape Town Opera’s activities and is written into its Mission Statement.

As South Africa’s largest performing arts company, Cape Town Opera does unprecedented work in training, empowering and creating jobs for young singers from across South Africa.
